October General Body Meeting

Monday, October 14th 6:00pm

  1. Welcome

  2. Harold Goss, Director of Collections, UVA Library

    • Graduate student access to resources during Alderman renovation

      • Graduate students will have access to everything that was accessible before

    • Popular books will be placed in Clemons Library

      • Many books will be shipped to Ivy Stacks (similar to a storage facility)

    • The library will begin offering LEO-type services for graduate students for books that will be moved to Ivy Stacks

      • Turnaround is, on average, 3 to 4 days

      • There is no fee for this service

    • Beginning November 25, 2019, interlibrary loan services will be suspended, since the office is relocating from Alderman to Ivy Road

    • Beginning December 18, 2019, LEO services will be suspended

    • Interlibrary loan and LEO services will resume on or around January 8, 2020

    • CAPS team – all are confidential employees, not mandatory reporters

      • Psychotherapists, clinical care managers, psychiatric providers

      • Primary mental health clinic on Grounds

      • Can help with (not an exclusive list):

        • Stress/anxiety; depression/mood; struggles with adjustment/transition; eating disorders; substance use disorders; transgender healthcare

      • Offered services

        • Counseling services — individual and group psychotherapy

        • Psychiatric services

        • Care management services

        • Crisis services

        • MiResource — online therapist referral database

        • SilverCloud — online self-help modules

        • Outreach and prevention services

      • Costs: no costs for visits

      • Location: corner of Jefferson Park Ave. and Brandon Ave.

      • Potentially changing bylaws for first year judiciary committee

          • Give presenters the option to have their talk recorded and posted online to increase visibility and to promote open access

          • Give presenters the option to post their slides online either at gradcouncil.com or the Open Science Framework (OSF)

          • Add workshop for science principles; reproducibility; transparency; sharing data

            • Could reach out to the Open Science Center

            • Could be for presenters and/or the general student body

        • Goal: be most beneficial for graduate students
