Excellence in Diversity Panel

The “Excellence in Diversity” event will provide a space for graduate students, alongside faculty and administrators, to be inspired by and learn about how others have taken practical steps towards enhancing diversity, and thus promoting excellence, within academic, professional and service settings. The event will feature several short presentations by faculty and administrators regarding how they have successfully sought out diversity, to the benefit of their academic and professional lives and work; a panel discussion with faculty and graduate students who are committed to research, teaching, and service with a wide variety of colleagues and community members; and roundtable discussions in which students are invited to think about concrete steps to pursue collaborations with diverse groups of scholars in order to enhance their work. Time will be provided for free-form discussion and questions about incorporating diverse perspectives and collaborations into one’s scholarship, as well as articulating one’s commitment to and concrete work toward promoting diversity.
