American Statistical Association (ASA) DataFest

ASA DataFest™ is coming to UVA! Over the weekend of March 18-20, we will be hosting a data analysis challenge open to all University of Virginia students. Students work in teams on a surprise dataset over a 48 hour period and present their insights to a panel of judges at the end. Winners will be selected in three categories: Best Insight, Best Visualization, and Best Use of External Data.

We'd love your help spreading the word: to undergraduates, encouraging them to participate in the competition; to graduate students, who can compete in a team or volunteer 2 hours of their time as a consultant and mentor; and to anyone else who might be interested in volunteering to serve as a VIP consultant. DataFest is for students from any field or major with an interest in data!

All the information about UVA DataFest — logistics, registering a team, volunteering as a consultant, and more -- can be found on our webpageASA DataFests have been occurring at universities around the country since 2011; the inaugural UVA DataFest is co-sponsored by the Library's Research Data Services, the Quantitative Collaborative, the Statistics Department, the Data Science Institute, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the A&S Learning, Design, and Technology office, and the Vice President for Information Technology's office.
